The objective of this program is to qualify physicians, dentists, and physiotherapists to practice acupuncture in accordance with the requirements of their respective professions.
Due to CTCMA of BC and Government regulations, Medical Professionals must
complete 1900 hours of required Acupuncture courses and Supervised Clinical
hours to obtain the British Columbia Acupuncture license and be registered with
CTCMA of BC. However, Medical
Professionals will be able to apply for transfer credits for up to one year
(600 hrs.) of our Acupuncture Diploma Course. We still offer the 300 hour
Medical Acupuncture Program for Medical
Professionals who wish to practice Acupuncture under their Scope of practice
(see next).
At present, the College of Physicians and Surgeons requires 200 hours of training to qualify a physician to practice acupuncture. The Association of Physiotherapists requires three levels of training in order to be able to practice acupuncture; the Association of Dentistry has not specified its requirements for acupuncture, but it may be in line with the other two professions.
Always check with your association for the latest information on the required
Courses, Hours, and Conditions.
Our
Medical Acupuncture for Physicians, Dentists, and Physiotherapists offers a total of
300 hours of training at three levels, which should be sufficient to meet the requirements of the above three professional associations.
(The program consists of training in the philosophy and fundamental theory of acupuncture, diagnosis, point locations, techniques of acupuncture, acupuncture treatment of various diseases, acupuncture classics, modern research of acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, hand acupuncture, foot acupuncture, and clinical training).
